Who Is JR?
“Make a dream tomorrow’s reality” sings Boston-based singer-songwriter JR, offering a glimpse into his independent soul. “I think that I write for the day, and make every detail a page in my life.” JR’s 2003 EP release “Listen Loud” brought great attention to Boston’s local music scene, leading to gigs opening for Epic’s Howie Day and Matt Nathanson. JR’s roots range from Jackson Brown to Matchbox 20. “I like to think of myself as conceptual storyteller, in whatever form the story dictates, not branded as this or that.”
In 1999, JR went on to front a band called Even-Tide. They toured for a year playing the college circuit opening for such acts as Eddie Money and the Fools. At the end of 2000, JR relocated to San Diego California. Performing under the name JR as a solo acoustic pop act, he began to play the beach houses, coffee houses, clubs, and bars for a period of three years. After performing at some of San Diego’s best-known venues, JR developed the confidence he was in search of. At twenty-four years old and with his rapidly growing fan base, he has returned to his hometown and is filling up local clubs and college campus’s all over the Northeast.
In December 2004, JR signed a recording contract with New York’s Klub Records. Les Francoeur, CEO of Klub signed JR after tracking his success on numerous Internet download sites and the popular file-sharing communities. “JR’s estimated downloads were approaching 10,000 and had been receiving consistent praises from LA based A&R company Taxi.”
JR’s new rock-acoustic sound leaves audience listeners with nothing less than a “wow” after his performances. “I love to give it my all at every show, to me that’s what it’s all about, making it personal for everyone.”
JR is currently in the studio with Klub Records recording twelve new songs for his debut album with engineer Jeff Juliano (Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Lifehouse, OAR etc.) “Racing the Sun” set for a national release this summer 2006.
