 Products: SPL - RackPack Modular System

RackPack
Modell 2710

The new modular rack system from SPL

Available from June 2007

Prototype demonstration at Musikmesse Frankfurt, Germany, from March 28. to 31. 3. 2007, SPL booth B84 in Hall 5.1.

rackpack

The new, proprietary SPL RackPack modular system allows for free configuration of an analog rack fully loaded with all SPL specialties. Whether eight-channel preamp, effects rack or individual channel strips, the price of SPL‘s innovative analog technology has never been that favourable per channel.

From June 2007 the first available modules will be the two new preamps. As excellent alternatives to SPL's tube-based preamp designs, they cover two categories: The Prefrence Mic-Pre is a straightforward, transformerless IC preamp, while the Premium Mic-Pre offers a triple stage solid state design with an Lundahl input transformer and discrete transistor circuitry.

Further modules pictured below will follow later in 2007, tube modules are scheduled for 2008. Images used here are drawings of the prototype versions. Exact prices and specifications will be published in April/May 2007. Conceptual changes can not be excluded until the serial versions are fixed.

 Transducer- Analog Speaker- and Miking-Simulator

Audio Processing

Transducer Availability scheduled for May 2007

Visit our live demos at Musikmesse Frankfurt, March 28.-31. 2007, SPL booth B84 in Hall 5.1.

In a cooperative developmental effort with German guitar amp specialists Tonehunter, SPL presents a new 2U, 19-inch format guitar speaker and microphone stand-in called the Transducer. It functions free of latency issues and with amps up to 200 watts.
The Transducer is connected and operated exactly like any guitar speaker box so that a guitar amp‘s distortion can also be integrated into the sound design.

Main advantages

  • Authentic sound qualities and real time response for the guitar player – in contrast to digital simulations with latencies in processing
  • Independence from volume levels during performances or recording sessions
  • Independence from room acoustics in recordings
  • Greater sonic flexibility in comparison to fixed box/microphone gear
  • Provides for a live signal in recording quality without crosstalk from miking
  • Great space and weight reduction in transport
  • Time-saving setup and simplified experimentation with sound variations
  • No phasing problems with track doubling thanks to latency free design
  • Hearing protection from in-ear monitoring in any kind of session, whether studio, live or private

The TRANSDUCER sports two main controls to adjust its sound: "Speaker Action“ works analogous to a speaker‘s cone behaviour at different levels through to an audible cone distortion effect. Similarly, “Miking Level“ recreates a microphone‘s characteristic at different recording levels.
Further switchable functions allow the choices of alnico or ceramic speakers, closed or open housings, condenser or dynamic microphones as well as adjustments to miking distances.

 Recording School Online releases free plugin Funky Flanger.

Audio ProcessingIcears writes: Recording School Online has just released Funky Flanger, a free VST plugin.

Funky Flanger is not your grandmother’s flanger, but a flanger with teeth.

What makes Funky Flanger so useful is the fact that it also functions as a duel modulation device that allows both chorus and flange to process simultaneously or separate to create very fat modulation effects.

If that’s not enough to raise the hair on the back of granny’s neck, there is also a
nifty digital delay that functions with or without the other effects.

The result is a multi-effect that can be configured an unlimited amount of ways.

Not only does this plugin sound fantastic, it’s also FREE.

Come visit us and check out our other great VST effects and instructional
music production videos.

 Recording School Online debuts VST Audio Plugins.

Audio ProcessingIcears writes:

Recording School Online has just released several VST audio plugins designed to simplify high quality music production. Ever wonder how world-class recording studios and producers get that great vocal sound or how they make a bass guitar wonderfully fat but not step on other tracks?

Well as you may know it is done using a series of processors, many of which are vintage and costly. Also the appropriate settings on these processors and sequence that the audio chain is of utmost importance and not with-in the realm of most home recording engineers.

Knowing this problem, we decided to design audio plugins that made it easy for the home recording engineer to get these production techniques quick and easy with out spending an arm and a leg.

What we did was design several complex mutli-effects configured to reproduce a number of classic recording techniques. Our idea was make them easy to use and as fool-proof as possible. Also we wanted to make them very affordable and within reach of home recording studios. (All currently half-price)

Here are some of the first:

Vocal Magic – This plugin combines the classic and modern in order to get a great vocal quickly. It is a blend of analog tape emulation, vocal thickening and doubling as well as a four band parametric equalizer all designed to work with vocals. The great thing is how easy it is to use.

Extreme Punch - Back in the days of analog recording there was one very outstanding recording tool. It was analog tape. Analog tape had one great advantage, it was warm and fat.

When the magnetic partials on analog tape become saturated, they created the best compression that ever existed. The result was a fat and dense signal which was both warm and punchy. We created a plugin to do just that called Extreme Punch. We made it easy to use and fool proof. We doubt you will find a more authentic analog tape emulator at any price.

These are just two of our newly design VST Audio Plugins.

All our Plug-ins are in the VST format and designed to

work with all programs that support this format including:

Cubase, Sonar, Ableton Live and FL Studio.

We believe you will find these plug-ins some of the more

interesting and pro quality effects available for music

production.

Oh yea, we also have a recording school and a full library of expert quality downloadable music production videos.

 Voxengo Marquis Compressor VST 1.3 released

Audio ProcessingAleksey writes: Voxengo Marquis Compressor VST 1.3 released

Version update 1.3 for Marquis Compressor is now available for download. Marquis Compressor is an universal compressor plug-in module in PC VST format which is both suitable for track and mix compression.

This version introduces a very useful 'Sound' mode selector. It is now possible to switch between the default "Phasy" sound mode to a "Linear" sound mode which offers a phase-linear processing. Phase-linear sound mode does not affect phase response of the program material. This mode can be particularly useful for mastering applications where low-frequency phase shift introduced by the "Phasy" mode is not desirable.

For your information, Marquis features a unique signal level detection algorithm, which creates a very open, punchy, compressed sound with an impressive transient response. Beside this, Marquis compressor offers a classic feedback (opto) compression mode switchable to a more common feed-forward compression. Both modes perform differently, but equally well.

Voxengo Marquis Compressor features:

* Variable knee design
* Harmonically enhanced sound
* Three compression behaviors
* Feed-forward and feedback (opto) modes
* Different coloration types
* Release contour controls
* Key signal filtering
* 4-level meters
* "A-to-B" comparisons
* Factory presets
* Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
* All sample rates supported
* 64-bit internal precision
* Native assembler DSP code

Marquis Compressor is available for purchase on-line for USD 89.95. For more information and downloads please visit the Voxengo website: http://www.voxengo.com
