Digital Audio Editor Shootout |
|
clarkmurray writes: Digital Music Doctor announces the release a new analysis which compares two popular Digital Audio Editors, Adobe Audition 2 and Sony Sound Forge 9. Both products are fairly evenly matched as far as traditional audio recording, editing, and processing functions. Audition comes out on top in the analysis primarily because of its multitrack mixing capability. Sound Forge, on the other hand, offers superior CD creation capabilities with CD Architect which is included with the product.
The analysis evaluates 140 different factors on a scale of 0-5 (5 being best) which are summarized into three main categories. Each main category has several subcategories which provide overall ratings for such functions as spectrum analysis, dynamics processing, and video. The analysis also includes an explanation for each rating as well as a description of what a particular function is and why it is important.
This study is based on the materials used in the video training courses produced by Digital Music Doctor which creates instruction for Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge, Digidesign Pro Tools, Cakewalk Sonar, Steinberg Cubase, Sony Acid, and Apple GarageBand as well as Mixing & Mastering and Digital Music Production. The complete analysis is available at the Digital Music Doctor web site: http://www.digitalmusicdoctor.com/reviews/audioeditors/audioeditors_summary.htm
