If you want to make things more interesting and help convince me, who's blog do you feel should win the SPL M/S Master and why?

Also, there is a rating above each qualifying blog that you can also cast a vote. Note: All blogs must have at least 5 vote casts before they will show any value.

Everyone please feel free to check out my (Bassfuzz) blog if voting for a blog (http://recording.org/blogs/bassfuzz/...-s-master.html). I hope it is informative about the feature set of the SPL unit, and would really be a nice tool to add into the mastering process. As you can tell I'm pretty excited about the possibilities of this unit in my chain. Thanks and good luck to all who have participated!

    Sincerely,
    Craig

First off I'd like to say thanks to Recording.org for setting up this competition and offering a great tool as price.

There some great blogs that have been written and that will get my vote, I decided to take a different approach with my own. The mastering process is a complicated one and there is a lot of factors involved in it. Whole books have been written about the subject and I don't have the illusion that I could write a compact blog about the subject, without having to leave out some important elements.

I do however feel that a lot of music makers out there run into a situation where they feel the music they are working on, could use that something extra that mastering, and especially M/S Mastering can provide. And I wanted to write down such a moment and the emotions involved. In the end, in my opinion at least, that's what music is all about: emotions.

If you are considering blogs to vote for, please have a read here:
    http://recording.org/blogs/motoko/15...-s-master.html

And if you can relate, just vote and / or leave a comment.

Thanks and good luck to all!

    Cheers,

    Niels

Thank you SPL for being so generous here. I have many pieces from this company and as manman said it right, SPL is an excellent company who makes great German pro audio gear.
Personally, I tend to follow companies that are focused around high end mastering and the hybrid DAW crowd.

    Okay;

You all seem to be able to appreciate and make use of this fine piece of gear however, once again I have to choose a winner. I've narrowed it down to 3 members all having a different element that I appreciate. The reasons to my madness and why I picked these final 3 for this contest are:

manman: best content on the SPL M/S Master hands down. However, after your blog you've basically vanished until today so you lost points. You would have been first for this draw had you come back here and shown some life and interest in RO. I cannot deny your blog so I put you in the finals. If you win, I hope you return on occasion to let us know what you are doing and to share how you like the M/S Master and/or other SPL products. You sound like a very good producer/engineer that is doing some exciting music. We can learn from you.
    Well done and good luck.

BuzzFuzz: has heart! and heart is what I like, but again, not a promising contributor after the fact of doing a blog so if you win, lets hope you tell us more about how the SPL M/S Master has helped your chain and possibly other things you are learning about recording. Good Luck!

MadMax. Best overall RO contributor hands down but lacked in your Blog content on this one... and I know you could do better! But, what you said earned some points so you are the final third. If you win, I know we will learn more about the MS Master and your studio over time. You are a top RO contributor and communicator which gets you in the running for this giveaway. Good luck!

If anyone one of you had all three qualities like I mentioned, that would have been the bomb. Something to remember for the next one. Thank you all who played. Maybe the next one will be your good fortune.

    manman, BuzzFuzz, MadMax

Choose a # between 100 and 1000. Only one guess per round and no edit. "Card layed is a card played". You can choose the same number as another if that makes you happy and if you tie, we do another round until it breaks the tie. Closest to my number wins.

    Go...!

    Motoko,

I tossed and turned over your blog. It was entertaining and you definitely you put thought and heart into it. It seemed a bit more like a suspense novel and this wasn't what I was looking for. I wish I could give you something for effort on that. Well done just the same!.

Lol, no problem. I knew I took a chance. Thanks for the comment though. Can't wait until the next giveaway.

Thanx bigtree... I appreciate you including me in the running!

Regardless of who wins, I wish the best to the winner! It'll be a killa piece to add to ANYONE's arsenal!

Now, I really would like to win the M/S Master... but, I am not going to try to BS my way into winning either... that ain't cool, or the right way to win. If my content is undeserving, then so be it. I guess my content was a bit weak as I haven't had as much experience with M/S as I probably should, but that's mainly due to the fact that tracking M/S is tricky to get right all the time, and while doable in the digital domain... it's just not bowled me over as well as doing it in the analog domain has.

It's not that I wanna new toy, just to have a new toy... I really do want to get one of the M/S Master units! In my case, it will probably sit in the tracking chain as often as it will be found in my mix chain.

I say "will", because I'm gonna get one of these in the near future... no matter what! ...and yes indeed... once I get one, I'll definitely be posting about it!

So... since you're asking for a number, I might as well pick one and let the cards fall where they may.

    My official number is 512.
This is pretty exciting. I want to thank bigtree for inviting me to recording.org and the opportunity to win this, and wish luck to Madmax and manman as well.

It was suggested to me to do this via a PM but, I want this to be up front and fun for others to the end. Yes, if you were some number genius you could do some sort of calculation to help the odds but its not that serious IMHO. Its all fun and if you win, you win.

manman, you have 24 hours to make it here.

    Good luck.
  15. bigtree's Avatar
To be fair, I'lll give manman an extra 24 hours, then I announce the winner.
