What I Did On My Summer Vacation (2011) To Present < Fall 2012 >

As it turns out, I recently had occasion to use the StudioLive Remote app and iPad to control my PreSonus mixer. As you know, I've been using a StudioLive24.4.2 for over a year and a half now. I've been extremely

  2. When you meet your heroes

Everyone always tells you to 'be prepared' if you ever you get a chance to meet your heroes. Sometimes, you can be setting yourself up for major disappointment. It can be like that pretty girl at the club who looked really hot at midnight from across a crowded room - then when she gets a little closer and the fluorescent lights come on at 2am ..... YIKES!

Likewise, your heroes don't always come off so good up close, without the benefit of and mirrors and dim lighting.

  3. Clearing out some extra equipment

As some of you know I've been at a stand-still for a while with my studio build - so I need to free up some money to bite off the next part of my construction project.

I've been stockpiling gear for the future studio for years and now that everything else has run WAY over-budget I can't afford the luxury of having duplicates, spares, and unnecessary equipment tying up much needed capital. I hate selling off some of these goodies, but I can replace them after I've got a working ...

  4. Hands On StudioLive Follow-Up (The Software)

OK, so here we are about a month later, and I've had a few hours here and there every week to keep pushing this StudioLive 24.4.2 to it's limits. I'll have more on the mixer itself at the end, but I was especially interested in how the PreSonus recording software integrated with the hardware. I have a lot of church clients who would/could benefit from easy recording software - and not just for the obvious reasons. Since so many of them rely on volunteers to run their sound (who have the best ...

  5. First Week Mixing Live Jobs on PreSonus StudioLive

    by , 03-09-2011 at 11:12 PM
After reading Bigtree's posts raving about his new Presonus mixer for the past couple months, I've been anxious to get one to evaluate in person. So far I've had a week with my grubby little paws on a StudioLive 24.4.2 at home, mixing some band tracks late at night - that was fun! I had a live show on the HD24 from a few months ago that I'd been looking forward to mixing - and it was a good chance to familiarize myself with the PreSonus' thought process. Having labored over the O1v before, I ...
  6. Merely owning a guitar, does not make someone a guitar player.

Rather than have my rambling run-on sentences (that may end in prepositions) drag down someone else’s blog, I’ll try my first blog entry.

After reading hueseph’s thoughts on ”What’s going on with Pro Audio?” - blog, regarding the future of recording studios, the demise of the project-studio, and the double-edged sword of affordable recording technology, and people who want to buy professional results, experience, and knowledge in magic pill-form.

    I got to thinking.... ...
