Sharing Mastering Knowledge

Mastering is now a common topic for most audio and musician forums. The trend is "this is good, this is bad" with no serious explanations. That sounds like audio hi-end debates about cryogenic cables. No science there, just personal opinions, or bias, which are useless to improve the readers' skills. Hardware and software manufacturers never have indeep information about the technical specifications of their devices to protect their business position. So people only has biased advices and marketing blabla to understand mastering technics. I would like to switch to an "open source" like model around the mastering. That's all this blog is about.

I'm always happy to see people bringing science on the internet. There's so much B.S. mainly propagated by the marketing of audio manufacturers and poorly informed forums.

After years of improving technical skills, I must admit that marketing is also a key point when running a business.

Few weeks ago FaceBook offered me a one month campaign to promote the MaximalSound FB page. The result was all but great. Most "likes" received were from unqualified people which have only a little relation with music at best. FB is definitely not the best way to promote a business.
