Hello all. Greetings from rainy northern California (in a typical year we should be roasting from dry heat Waves at this time!).

I finished the marathon recording sessions of the six Bach cello suites last night - here are the numbers:

1 cellist playing all by herself, on 2 different cellos, one with 2 different tunings. 2 movements repeated entirely with ad lib ornamentation, 2 movements with improvised pizzicato sections. 36 tracks done in over 30 hours of session time; 30 of those tracks repeat at least once, 6 of those twice.

For me, 2 channels of ribbon mic, 4 channels of custom active-powered omnis with their matched custom-designed battery-operated 4-channel mic pre into a Sadie system recording simultaneously on 2 hard drives.

This will end up as 2 well-filled CDs or - I hope - 2 high-resolution Blu-Ray discs (containing uncompressed 24/96 surround and stereo mixes). Here are some links of interest:
