After years of improving technical skills, I must admit that marketing is also a key point when running a business.

Few weeks ago FaceBook offered me a one month campaign to promote the MaximalSound FB page. The result was all but great. Most "likes" received were from unqualified people which have only a little relation with music at best. FB is definitely not the best way to promote a business.

At last, the new web site is on line!

Vintage is now everywhere in the audio marketing. The first domain which has been affected by this madness, was the guitar business. Manufacturers have reissued their legendary models. The associated amplifiers have also followed this trend. Then the whole audio business has discovered that (most) tube powered equipments have a great sound. This movement has now reached the software companies who claim their last plug-in emulates famous rare equipments used to produce worldwide hits. Digital processors ...

In the coming weeks, the usual processors involved in the mastering chain will be reviewed. Since it's last in this chain, the limiter will be the first to be considered.



The limiter is supposed to be the very last treatment in the mastering process with an analog counterpart. The sample rate conversion, the bit depth conversion and associated dithering and noise shaping will be examined in future topics.
