You want a really good headphone system? Think about this. Get yourself a Crown D 60 or 75. Then all you need is a breakout box with as many stereo headphone outputs as you want. Now, numerous headphones will load the amplifier down below 8 ohms. So, you purchase a 10 W 8 ohm resistor on the output of the Crown. This way, you can plug in as many headphones as you want without loading it down below 8 ohms. I build my own headphone boxes with Radio Shaft parts that include 2 headphone outputs and a stereo volume control. Then I include a switch so that I can have 2 separate mono mixes instead of a single stereo. This is a headphone system I have built up for numerous studios throughout the years with the most notable one being Media Sound in NYC back in 1978. It works great. Sounds great. More power than you need. Clean. Fat. The ultimate in punch. If you want more detailed information I am happy to provide it.

But then again if you want a dedicated headphone amplifier that will sit in your control room just about anything including the Behringer will do. But then you'll need headphone extension cords and all that other stuff. Why bother?

That sounds awesome your highness....LOL....I am not worthy....I am not worthy.....The specs you speak of are well beyond my understanding at this point in time. But I do appreciate the information. You seem to know quite a bit about electronics. A dude could really benefit from your knowledge. Thanks again for your feedback...

oh one more thing....Im still researching headphone amps as well as a few other things so everything at the moment is up in the air. I have a few ideas about what I want vs need...or is it the other way around? um, in either case, Im looking at a few options. Im almost where I need to be with my home studio so things are looking up. Thanks again for your help.

This is actually a great beginners electronic project if you are so inclined I've built several of these over the years as we had amps and the cost is pretty minimal. You do have to learn to solder but the circuitry is extremely simple and parts are easy to come by, you can even get a simple project box to put it all in.

Do NOT buy the HA8000. Mine was NOISY! Actually got the presonus HP4, and was thrilled with it. Fantastic little box. Had that until I bought my ONYX 1640.

Hey Jeremy...Didnt plan on a Behringer. Was thinking about the HA60 from Presonus. I have heard from several people that the Behringer's make great door stops. How do you like you7r ONYX 1640? Any problems thus far?

The ONYX is rock solid. Great build quality with stellar preamps for the money. Just a great unit, highly recommended.
