Hi, I am a singing and guitarist for a metal band. I am looking for people to mix my demo CD for me. The CD will be submitted to people in the industry, and I would like it to be as professional as possible at an affordable rate.

You do know it costs a lot of money to record chain saws? You know, with the cost of gas today...

So you have already recorded your project and have it in a multitrack format? You just need a mix engineer? Then you want it to sound like real metal? To make it sound like real metal you have to mix it through a real metal console, like mine! And it has to go through real metal processors to add that fateful metallic touch. I mean you guys are not playing metal on acoustic guitars are you?!? And since this is heavy metal, I can assure you that my all metal console with lots of heavy iron cores weighs about as much as a small car! And along with my mixing skills from the 1970s I can assure you my mixing is annealed. Want to hear more? Of course you do at [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.CROWmobi…"]Home[/]="http://www.CROWmobi…"]Home[/] (you must use Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or better to hear the full mostly all live examples on each of the 6 pages of the site). While not all of these examples are heavy metal music they do have that super fat & chunky, real metal in use, sound. And when it comes to money, if I think you're good? You'll pay less. If I think you stink? I'll charge you the full rate. That's because, I have trouble making someone without any talent, sound talented. I know a lot of engineers know how to do that however. That's not always good. And oh BTW, if I think you're real bad, I'll generally refer you to another studio that has a very good professional prostitutional engineer.

I know my response gave you great confidence.

PS
I would have imagined seeing at least 500+ responses from everybody else here?

Not being brutal, but honest... I'm guessing that affordable really meant free, or as close to it as possible.

I've had a couple of those calls from young bands who formed over the summer, and are trying to get some tracks mixed so they can get gigs during the school year.

Unfortunately, most of these bands are trying to record their own stuff 2 tracks at a time, with little knowledge on how to properly get levels for tracking, much less mixing.

On the flip side, I have managed to get a couple of these types of groups to be reasonable in their expectations and abandon the "self recording/producing" concept in favor of actually starting over and doing it right. They were very surprised at how affordable I am willing to make the studio for them... all it really takes is the ability to play well, know your music and come in with a good attitude.

I really should sticky this at the top of the budget recording forum.

This, kids, is what its all about. Underline the good attitude. When you are going in to a studio where the owner is as experienced as someone like Max, you have to understand that he's there to help all he can....MANY of us older farts are like that....but we cant fix stupid or angry.
