Just wondering if anyone has use an AKG c422 mic. Is it worth it? Or, is it better to get 2- 414's?
I would use it for grand piano, drum overheads or live to 2 track.

Blake...I've used for many years a stereo C33 which is smaller version of the 422 but with CK1 capsules. Like two 451's... I would go with the 422/426b version due to the fact its easier to position, less phase issues being coincident in design and remote pattern selection. Hated to get rig of the one I had, and also have been looking at the 422 recently, prices have come down quite a bit. Make sure though it hasnt been dropped, top capsule wont rotate very well if it has besides internal diaphram damage that may have occured. I've also seen a few that the foam in the case had deteriorated...meaning possibly
dirty capsules and may need to be cleaned. Otherwise I think its a very useable mic,
Best Regards...
