Hello, I am a relative NEWBIE when it comes to digital audio recording. I purchased a Terratec EWS88D soundcard for a workstation I was building and then realized that I would need
a digital-audio converter to monitor the sounds through a stereo system. In retrospect I think it would have been better to purchase the EWS88MT with the breakout box. The main purpose of this setup would be to do sequencing of digital samples using sequencers and MIDI. I don't need to plugin any external sources aside from daisy-chaining multiple computers together at a later stage. I know that adding a EWS88MT to my EWS88D would give me 18 digital tracks, but would this have to go through an external mixer before monitoring a stereo mixdown? If I could mixdown to stereo inside the computer, wouldn't I just need an external D/A converter? Would I be better off selling the Terratec EWS88D and get a one card solution that does exactly what I require? I don't even know if I could listen to Mp3's through the computer with a dedicated Terratec soundcard installed. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
