So I was asked to bring my Delta 1010 based DAW to record a matrix mix of a show this weekend (stereo soundboard +stereo mics)
I'll only need 4 inputs, I plan on using Vegas 2.0 to do the recording as I've had great success with this program, but I'm antsy as in my studio my DAW is hooked up to my home network for post-production work...meaning internet/LAN access and probably more windows stuff than needed
Is there a way I can set up a user profile or a hardware profile or something that is as lean as possible? I installed Win2k without ACPI and I'm using the newest drivers-5.12.1.20. I'm only going to record at 16 bit 44.1k so this setup works fine...
I guess my end result would be that I want to keep my current home studio configuration, and then create another one that is as lean and straightforward for recording as possible. I don't have to worry about latency or anything, it will be just for recording. Some bands will be playing 1-2 hour sets so I just need the stability and peace of mind that I can pull it off...
Not sure how I would go about setting this up... any help out there?

Here's your "safest" bet on how to do this...Get yourself the removable IDE carriers and have one drive for home and one for audio recording...
Or you could do this...Dual install of Win2K...when you install the OS you get a chance to create partitions..create two of em..install Win2k on the first and set it up for home..next go thru the install process again and install it to the secondary partition...set it up for Audio..This way you restart and you can choose which Win2k version to boot up in..I dont think you can name the boot load but it's a selection of two Win2K installs..usually the top choice is the first one installed...
Otherwise I dont reccomend user settings change..it can get messy as far as the registry and so forth..the hardware is still installed in the machine..it's there..it's seen and it still interrupts..
Besides...if you just have DSL or Cable hooked up and not networking with other machines..trim the services down..the only thing you really need is DHCP Client, DNS Client and Network Connections for ISP LAN Connections..also make sure the effects for the desktop are turned off for Win2k as well..it's the fading menu thang!
