Seems as though I read that if you change any of your hardware in XP, microsoft knows and your XP program has to get a new code to work. IS this true? Can I just slip my old hard drive in that has archives on it and do like I did on 98? If I get another hard drive, will this cause problems? What is this about?

Thanks in advance.

No Bill, changing your harddrive won't effect your XP-loaded system with relation to Microsoft. I believe the quote that I read from a MicroSoft guy was that their system "allows" you to change 3 pieces of hardware every 3 months, so the "normal" user should not be affected by their limitation. If by chance you were to experience a problem, it's a simple phone call to MicroSoft to straighten it out. As long as you have your own legal, registered version of XP, and it's only installed on one machine, you'll always be fine.
