I need to decide whether I should go with the Lynx Aurora 16 or RME ADI-8-DS. Has anyone heard about the quality of the converters in the Lynx? The Lynx would be muchmore affordable for me but I want to make sure that I am getting top quality conversion at a good price. Can't afford rosettas or a couple of RME's
Thank you!

I'm also very interested in they Aurora 16. I don't think this unit is even out yet, so your not gonna get any real info on it other than from the manufacter. I would imagine the Aurora would be slightly better than the RME stuff. The Aurora is also supposed to be better than than the Lynx 2 which sounded pretty damn good.

Did anyone get a chance to check out the Aurora 16 at NAMM?

The firewire option isn't supposed to come out for a while. :(

The Lynx won't be shipping for another 2-3 weeks last I heard (at NAMM they mentioned about a month, but didn't want to commit to anything).

The quality of the Aurora should be better than the Lynx 2. If for nothing else, getting it out of the computer with a good power supply will help. They have also upgraded a number of the parts as well.

I use the Lynx 2 on most of my gigs and I've yet to be disappointed with it. It isn't Lavry, but it is still very high quality. For the buck, I don't see anything else out there that will be anywhere close.

The cards will be coming out slowly for it, but that will also add another level of functionality- between firewire and the other options, it should be pretty darned good. The implementation of it between the AES-16 interface, the IR port for control by a laptop or PDA... It is nothing short of spectacular.

so , it's out now , did anybody try it ???
and if so , did you compare it to an apogee mytek ???

i want to change my converters because i'm gonna get my mixing desk soon and i need at least 16 channels of da and ad , i currently using rme converters which i don't like at all and i have a dcs high-end da (which is by very far the best i've ever heard) , i can't afford 16da's and 16 ad's of lavry blue , these blue monsters are f%*#ing expensive converters , 32 of them will cost around 13000$ ... i worked on a pro-tools hd converters the other day , it's ok nothing special to write home about , the lynx are claiming to be a mastering grade converters , is that so ???
