Hi all...I've heard several people talk about making their own patch cables. I have a set that I purchased from the store, and didn't really think twice about them until today. My entire rack is wired with nice cabling (Monster) except for the patch cables- so what is the cheapest way to go about upgrading without spending big $$$? Thanks!
p.s. my recordings sound fine now, but your signal path is only as good as its weakest link (or so I'm told).

Many of the commerciallly available cabes like Hosa use high qualty wire in their manufacture and are really pretty good . You say your mixes "sound fine now" so why fix it if it ain't broke?
If you have any 1/2 normal connections in your patch bay, try an a/b test ... route the send through a cable and plug and unplug it at the 1/2 normal connection return and listen for any differences ... If you cannot hear any difference, (I doubt you will) then the question is moot..

i think the most expensive way to go is to get som good high quality connectors like neutrik, and some good cable, like mogami.

the connectors arent to cheap, but if your just after a few, it shouldnt be a problem.
