Hi guys.
I was wondering if my laptop was good enough to handle all the recording and etc. that I would be doing. So here are some of the specs:
Dell Vostro 1500
Intel Core 2 Duo @1.60 GHz
1.00 GB Ram
Windows 7 32-bit
That's really all I think is needed. I also need to find an affordable external USB sound card? Do they even exist?

What type of recording are you doing? How many channels? Are you willing to reformat without all the factory Dell programs? I'm not intimately familiar with the Vostro but I use two different lines of Dell laptops for remote live concert recording (Inspiron 9400 and Latitude D820). All three will record 16 channels of 88.2k/24 bit for a two hour concert without a hitch provided the computer is tweaked and an appropriate external hard drive is used (firewire or usb). Cucco I think uses a Vostro for remote recording but I'm not 100% on that.
There is only one USB soundcard I would for sure consider and that is the RME Fireface UC. Apparently Roland has one worth investigating. Despite the recent thread I haven't seen any others acceptable for serious recording other than the RME. Still willing to be convinced otherwise but don't have the cash right now to buy interfaces just to test them out as a review. Firewire is the best available until USB 3.0 and Firewire 1394c materialize in the real world.
