All right. Here's the issue...
I'm getting a really weird high pitch interference will all my bass signals. It reminds me of what happens when someone notches up the higher freqencies in a mix. I'm using Adobe Audition (Which I've used plenty times before) with Windows Vista
What I've done
Direct in the the line in
Direct into the mic
Used to different Preamps (one usb, and one direct out)
It's there with my headphones on and/or off
Now...obviously, the quality changed with all of those, but nothing changed with that high pitch sound. If desired I could record something real quick and send it so you can hear it for yourself.
I originally thought it was because I was going direct and perhaps it was my pickups...so then I turned to Micing the bass cab...same problem. I'm getting great signal...but...still there. My guitar is not doing the same thing, and neither is my programmed drums on play back
So I am pretty sure it's in the recording process and not on playback. However, I have not listened to any recordings of this on any other computer.
Any help would be great.

Interesting thing. In a brief moment I had an epiphany and thought that perhaps it was something with the playback from the software I was using. I mixed the bass file I was working on down and played with a couple different players and what do ya know...annoying noise isn't there. This is definitely going into my box of "fix-its" and I won't be using Adobe Audition anymore.
It's weird though, I've never had that issue with Adobe before on any other system...just this new one. I don't know why it does it and I can't seem to find any audio options that allow me to adjust the way that the playback operates.

Well..I don't think it's Audition persay...it's just the way my audiodrivers are handling the bass frequencies when adobie audition is playing it back. However, I since have installed Cakewalk Sonar 8...and the problem is gone. But now I'm having timing issues. I KNOW I am playing in time. But the live tracks are just milliseconds late from the midi tracks...It's like there' s a small delay between me playing and the track actually recording.

Electric or Acoustic upright? If acoustic, what is the pickup-Realist? Something else?
What is the bass head?
What is the preamp if applicable?
What is the computer audio interface? (Please don't say you are using the "line in" jack on the computer)
For that matter, what is the computer? Laptop/desktop/
Are you using an external (or secondary internal) hard drive?
Have you tried a completely different pair of headphones?
