This is really worrying me because I dont really know what the problem could be! I'll explain. The way that I record my guitars is by direct input. Direct input as in I take my guitar cable, plug it into a quarter inch jack, then plug it into my audio interface. That's really the only way I can do it because I just cant afford to upgrade right now. And once Ive recorded the guitar tracks, I give them some tweaks through "Amplitude" software, to make them sound more full. I've recorded this way for a long time and never had a single problem in doing so.
Well a couple of nights ago, I tried to record (the way I explained) and I was getting some static sounds and pops within my tracks. Wouldn't hear this until I was finished recording. The more takes I tried, the more the static would build up and become more and more intense. Also let me say that I heard these noises once I listened to the track right after I recorded them (before I would even use Amplitude). I tried 2 different guitars, and 3 different cables and the static continued to grow. I'm recording through Sonar 7 Studio Edition on a Gateway M-1617 laptop. Once again, Ive never had problems like this before. Anyone familiar with this or know the solution?
Hit me back!
Thanks
-Jon
