I love my EV RE20 for spoken word and mic-ing the guitar amp. I also use a Shure Beta 58 which is hypercardoid or more focused which is useful when recording in the field.

Sibilance has been my nemesis in doing by spoken word recordings. What works for me is:
1. Find the freq. range where the sibilance is greatest. for me that is around 3.8khz to 4.1khz.

14. If you are getting too much "mouth sounds", have the vocalist drink some apple juice. It seems to clear the mucous/saliva bubbles on the lining of the mouth pretty well.

for condensor mics, I love my Lawson L47MP, which Gene Lawson tweaked a bit to make it even more appropriate for my spoken word recordings.

I too recommend the Millennia STT-1 (Origin). It has plenty of gain, is very clean and transparent and is worth every pen and more some when you consider all that it has in it.

I have enjoyed using my M-Audio Firewire 410. I like it that it has two headphone plugs and volume controls, mixer software, and has worked flawlessly with my Dell Inspiron laptop.
