I bought two heads. One crapped out on me and the other I rebuilt using a Mojo board kit and a David Allen champ OT.

Everybody should have sm57 and/or 58. The Beta's aren't worth the extra expense.

Don't go cheap on the condenser mic. The cheap ones tend to be harsh in the mids and high frequency range for vocal ...
