Ok. Question: where do you have your monitors plegged in? Or are you using pc speakers to monitor? If yes, that is your problem. You need to monitor from the "profire".

I would say that a single vocal done in the proper environment with a quality mic can sound as good as a stacked vocal done under less than ideal conditions.

Ok. So, the track is record enabled. The correct input is enabled for the track. Click record to put the daw in record mode and click play to begin recording.

More info. Is the track record enabled? Have you gone through the getting started manual step by step to ensure you haven't missed anything? This would be the first thing to do.
