Mono is good when you add the stereo reverb. So collapse your ORTF to Mono. Add some stereo reverb/ambience.

From your description it sounds as if there were curved walls in this space. Is that correct. If so focused reflections will do all manner of crazy things with localisation. |

Is it possible that these changes whilst very obvious on earphones, might not seem so dramatic on loudspeakers? Not really an excuse though give how much listening is done on earphones.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am less concerned about the “location” of the soloists than I am with the perspective on the outer edges of the choir.

The majority of the recording I do is Oratorio in live concerts.
Typically 2 - 5 soloists either side of conductor, small orchestra often with hapsichord or chamber organ and about 100 person choir ... |

No need to use Sonodore or the like. I have used Sonodore starting in 1988 and abandoned them some time after.
Is this specifically for Harpsichord - or generally?
