I would look out for two things on an external drive: 1) 8mb cache (vs. 2mb), and 2) assuming you're going firewire, the 911 chipset (or 922 for fw800).

I second that. However, to be sure pick one with the TI chip. Try the Fireconnect from Adaptec. I know for a fact that it uses that chip. There are many others, too.

| They're all RTAS which only works with PT and (I think) DP 4.6. And that's only if DP is controlling Digi TDM hardware. |

| As far as I can tell, the u47 is very commonly used to close mic the kick, or even be placed inside it. Shouldn't hurt it. |
