For heavier bass sounds I like to go into my Vintech 1272 DI, into a Distressor, then into an API 550. I usually go with a clean DI also, but it sounds better when you do it right from the guitar tha ...

Just remember to put the SPL meter away before the band comes in or they'll turn it into a Fartometer! Very Happy

Also note that this bad boy distorts in a horrible way when it runs out of headroom. Amen to that.

I don't have any detailed info about why you shouldn't run an unbalanced signal into it, but I have heard a number of times that it's a major issue with a Distressor and that you shouldn't do it.

The only graphic EQ that I like for recording is an API 560. It's affordable, but it's not exactly cheap.

I am using Lynx2 convertors. I compared these to RME and MOTU and they slayed those two. of course it is still a subtle difference I like a nice, soft and subtle slaying. Very Happy

I always thought that "mic" can be used as a verb.

"I will mic the kit."

It's not too bad. I like the EQ section and the compressor, although the comp is a little bit tricky to set. It likes to overshoot. I've never found a practical use for the enhancer/de-esser. I th ...

These things are so subjective, but I prefer the 1272 over a 1073. I don't care if the 1272 was the originally a talkback amp or a part of a Mr. Microphone. It's huge sounding and can be used in man ...
