Thanks. I agree with all of your points.

The quitar reverb is part of the guitar sound coming from the pod so I can't fix it in the mix. The guitar player(s) purchased the Line6 pod pro that evening and didn't even read the users manual so the sound was stock.

I tried like hell to get a decent drum mix but, like I said, I had some drum leakage problems (1 overhead pointing straight down at the snare drum...big no-no) that will be fixed next time. I'll be using 2 overheads that will be pointing AWAY from the snare. If I bring up the cymbals in the overhead track, too much snare comes through. I've tried to EQ it out but there is alway just enough left that comes through that upsets the EQ balance of the snare track. To complicate matters, I have way too much HH leakage on the snare track. I'll be using a different mic on the snare next time. I've heard that the Audix-D1 is a good top snare mic.

The bass drum being too loud is, from what I can tell, a result of recording the drums without limiters. I had that problem on just about all of the drum tracks. I'm really looking forward to recording my next drum tracks with limiters going in. I'll post my next effort in a couple of months.

Hey folks- I lurk around these forums a good bit, trying to pick up tips from the pros, so I hope it isnt bad form for me to post up a few tunes.http://www.ultratheband.com/
This is all home recording-done with a tascam tmd1000 mixer into cakewalk-this is my first batch of mixes, so I really hope to improve my quality next time around. My faves are "then and now" and "river song"---The songs on the left are new, the ones on the right are 8trk recordings. Any comments appreciated! Strat
