    Default Cant get inspired....

    Ok boys and girls.....
    Its my turn....Im stuck....I sit at a keyboard....and nothing....I play guitar....nothing....

I make noises with soft synths....its all noise...

After almost 30 years of recording....Im stuck....
    My engine is in neutral....

Im not sure if this has been answered anywhere here...my apologies if so....but...how do you break out of this slump?

This is worse than A-Rod at Fenway Park.....well...nothing is THAT bad...

    What works for you people?
    Thanks in advance

    Quick Fix?

Read through the rest of this forum

    "Finishing it without diminishing it"
"What to do when the inspiration isn't coming"
    "Inspirational songs"

If that doesn't work, get out your old stuff and hack away until you can't anymore. Fix what was bad then, backwhen you were inspired and didn't need new inspiration- you may take it into a whole new direction.

    Good luck

    Phil

Do something else. Unless you have a deadline, don't even try to force it. Clean your attic. Or, buy a gorilla costume and walk around town like nothing is strange about it. Soon you wont be able to keep yourself from coming up with ideas.

find inspiration in others. other muscians can turn you on to new ideas sounds or energies.
or turn to nature look out your window
into your nieghbor's yard listen to the kids playing b'ball
maybe a rythym or note will stir your soul

    lots of luck

Id like to thank all of you who responded....
One thing Im noticing...is that I needed to just chill out a bit....

Im a teacher on vacation...and I was trying to force the issue...

Its mid-week...and Im just starting to get back on track...

Ive been reading different thread since I posted.....I for one NEED a deadline....otherwise...its the "I can make it better" until it really sucks syndrome....

After a couple of days of just enjoying the warm weather for a chance....Im starting to "think" musicially again....I wasnt ...and that was scary.

Believe it or not.....I was inspired by a dream.....

Last night I woke from a dream that took place on a stage ....with some of my friends around.....

There was music playing like on a CD....but there were people playing instruments with the CD on the stage....(yea strange)

but the key was....these people are friends of mine....an old bass player....and old keyboard player.....

    and it hit me....

They were telling me to do what I do best.

Now Im a guitarist first....but I try to "do it all" in my project studio (Im sure many can relate)

So I try to come up with the perfect drum track , keyboards, effects, production technique....

But I spend so much time learning other stuff....I never get to the good stuff....(guitar)

Its like they are telling to do what I do best.
Ill thank everyone for their suggestions....its all excellent reading.

wondering how many others beat around the bush as much as I have these days.....

    Crumb,

I'm reminded of a song - everyone sing it with me -
"I like dreamin,... 'cause dreamin' can make me high"....

We all need a kick now and then.

Mozart wasn't Mozart without his old man.

    Mr Crumb Sir,

Take a ride down the street.......... the room is better than ever (and getting better all the time) and Rod would enjoy the company.....

Somtimes when I'm in a slump being around my musician friends and batting around ideas makes things happen in a special way.

If the truck is in the yard all you have to do is pull in -
