hi guys, i'm setting up a DAW in a normal house, and am starting to think about the acoustic treatment. (i'm only renting, so it has to be portable). but i'm not sure whether it's better to do a lot of research on acoustics and seek out cheap foam etc. and do it all myself, or whether at the end of the day a package from auralex will do a better job and be less problematic, or even that much more expensive anyway. what do you guys think?

Greetings
DIY will be a LOT cheaper, but will TAKE a LOT LONGER.
For bass trapping the Aurlex MEGALENRDS performed about the same as a DIY mineral wool corner trap, and even better in the lo-mid range, so performance wise either is great.
I guess you gotta weigh up the pros and cons.
If you don't mind spending time building wooden exoskeletons, filling them with mineral wool, and then stapling cloth around the boxes then you can aquire a decent set of bgass traps for very little $$$
On the other hand the MEGALENRD way is to open the box and put them in position.
