Logic 8 Question: How to create a stem mix/Print to track?
Hey,
I'm trying to figure out how I can route audio tracks/aux tracks to audio tracks for stem mixing so that I'll have a group of tracks that are mixed together, but actually printed to an audio track. I know how to sub mix, but that doesn't give me the ability to export them as one region. Anyone know a good way to do this in Logic 8?

hmmm.....i'm not too familiar with logic....but couldn't you just mute all other tracks -only keeping the subbed tracks you want for one track....mix down into a two track...or mono....and then import that mixdowned track back into your session???? - that may be the long way, but it should work if you can't find a simpler solution.

Mute/disable all of the tracks you do not want to record.
Send all the stem tracks to one aux/sub.
Send the aux/sub to an audio track and record.
If you use any processor intensive plug-ins on the aux/sub you may end up a few milliseconds of delay.

That's what I tried to do in the first place. To send the output of the aux track to the desired audio track right? When I pull down the output menu though, I only get output 1-2 as my option.Originally Posted by UncleBob58

Sounds good. 1 and 2 should equal left and right tracks. I would check just to make certain.
Print the output and name it in a way that helps you to recall what it has on it. Then continue that process until all your wants are filled. You will be better off to import all the newly made files into a new project.
If I were you would you listen to me?
Mute the tracks you don't want, bounce and check the add to audio bin option.

if you only have a 2-track output and try to record that again you will record everything you hear. that means you'll have to mute everything except the tracks you want and you will also have to mute the output of the track you record to. otherwise you'll have a recording of the original signal mixed with the same slightly delayed signal.
when you have multiple outputs in your audio interface you can route your submixes to separate mono or stereo outputs and record those to separate tracks simultaneously. in that case i wouldn't use output/input 1-2.
but you can also bounce your submixes separately one after another and import them again like mentioned before.
