I am wondering if the placement of my drumkit, facing away, or towards any particular direction has more or less impact on the way the sound will affect my neighbors? Since i am still in the planning stage, i can orient the kit so that say, it is located on the far wall, farthest from the walls nearest the neighbors house? Or conversly, should i place the kit close to the wall near the neighbors, and directionally playing away? Also, should i be thinking of bass panel absorbers directly behind the kit? |

Whichever wall the kick drum head is parallel to and closest to, assuming all walls are built similar, will be where the most leakage happens. If you're concerned with sound escaping the house more than bothering other housemates, the kick should be further from outer walls and, in any case, NOT have the heads parallel to the walls.
Absorption won't make much (if any) difference in the noise transmitted outside, but will make a BIG difference in the sound within the room, if done right... Steve |

THats what i was looking to hear. I will plan my space with the kit furthest away from the offensive wall, and facing perpendicular to not parrallel. This will make my kit face east furthest away, whereas the offensive wall is on the south facing side. That may just be that little bit that helps. |
