1.I have all cards and trafos from 2254 and plaining to connect them in september-october
(like I did 1073) with educational purpose...
2.33609 will be nice DIY project too; it is possible to make 2 versions of soundpath PCB with Farnell/St.Ives trafos and ba340/ba283 options.
3.Sidechain from 33609 looks a bit simple to DIY.
4. Farnell have allmost all semiconductors or
analogs.
5.Front pannel PCB with 2254 layout.
So, I started 33609 PCB(I use licenced EAGLE).
To make it close as possible to original 33609,
it will be nice to have a couple of photos, one is
top wiew and other bottom view of PCB, good resolution.
And ratios of T1, T2 transformers
(refer to sch. on Kev's page).
Every help will be great!

Well, if everything goes the way it should, I just may have scored an original 33609. I'd love to get this thing into DIY because it's a great piece of gear and I know everyone will benefit from having at least 1. It's funny this thread should start again, I was going to wait until I had the unit in my hands to post but...

As soon as I get it (I hope I get it!) I'll gladly post some pics.

It is on the list of things to do.

I haven't got time to drive this one BUT if you need any help just let me know and I'll do what I can.

It is a fine piece of gear would make for excellent DIY ... that also includes the 2254.

I do have a couple of extra pictures that I did send out somewhere ?? Please remind me where these went.

I'll do my best to find another 33609 and try to get a trackside view BUT it isn't as easy as opening the lid.

Good luck to all.

We have two ways.
One is simply redraw original PCB, another is
to make sound path PCB with trafos on it :
ba340/farnell trafos version or ba283/st.Ives tr. version, sidechain PCB and front PCB.
Second way looks nice, but 33609 must be VERY
ctitical to ground layout. So, it vill be nice
to see how grounds made in original.

Kev,

They were attached to Group DIY Update 01/06/03. If anyone needs them, I can e-mail them to you (PM me). Or, if Kev doesn't mind, I can post them as a link for people to "do with as they wish" ;)

In the meantime, I'll take a look at the shop for the manual and try to get some schematics scanned. I know they're kicking around somewhere, I just have to take some time to hunt them down.

regarding transformer ratios:

could it be that the interstage trannie may be 2:1? the dB notes on top of the drawing show 6 dB level difference and the circuit between is impedance converter only...

........................

I´d go for ba 283 ouput amp to give even more coloration it may have already :)
