I have a problem. I have my vocal mic going into my board and then the computer. But when going into the board Im peaking at times and Im forced to lower the level alot. Should I add a compressor on the vocals before going into the computer? |

Set the gain on the mic preamp so the highest peak of your performance reach -6 dB in DAW. You can always compress and bold it later and recall it if you don't like.
How’s calibrated input of A/D stage? Did you check the spec (preamp out - AD in)? |

Well Im going right into the makie board that has its own phantom power and pre amp. So I guess Im going to have to turn that gain up. |

Of course, but the point is that you have to turn it up so the highest signal is peaking approximately at (-6) dB. Leave some headroom. It's healthy.
With the little practice, you will find out the right preamp gain setting for the song.
What are you using as ADDA converter/card? |

Mackie/Delta66 combo should work fine. Just be gentle with the gain.
