i dont know much about the equipment, but the microphone you want is 10$ cheaper on musiciansfriend

def get monster cables, they have a lifetime guarantee and even though theyre more expensive, the assurance that you will get a free replacement is worth the cost.

also keep in mind that the mic needs phantom power, make sure you can supply it because i remember one time my friend wanted to record his band live and couldnt supply the power.

ALL condensor mics require power either by battery or from a source that has phantom power which is usually +48V DC. I would expect the Tascam you are looking at as well as most any new/modern mic pre amps or audio interfaces that have a mic preamp, will have phantom power capability.

not to be a drag but dont assume that the tascam usb device can supply 48V to the mic double check the specs to be safe...aight?

Of course you should always check for such things as part of product research. It is conformed that the Tascam US144 has phantom power. I've seen the US144 at the last AES show and was quite surprised at what total cheap crap it appeared to be. Crap enough that it should not even have the professional Tascam logo on it. Clearly more aligned with prosumer Teac line.

If you are set on USB, for the same money, I would suggest that you get the E-MU 0404USB. Better converters, better mic pre, and better software bundle.

I don't think that's true...is it? My Delta 1010 doesn't know that...or maybe it's just the later ones?

Curious about that statement.

False. I happily used my M-Audio cards with Cubase for quite some time.

LOL! a nice big bud of dro? is that like a wad of cash or a massive bag of marijuana? you g0 sm0ke dem f00z sm0ke!

anyways, i read the specs on that USB device, and both mic inputs do supply phantom power. For $200 though I would search other things as well, especially since on the site there are very few reviews, and even then the thing only got a 7.

The MXL990 is one of the cheapest crap mics money can buy. If you have no experience with mic's, recording skills, ect..., then it would make a good mic to dick around with so you can cheaply gain experience and recording skills. After a period of time, and after you have used a few different mics, you will learn, or at least you should learn, how much a mic can make a difference.

As you might expect, dudes like M&M & half dollar use very expensive mics. If you got bling to spare, get the Sony C800G and then Gold plate it.

ALRIGHT GOOD We are getting somewhere since now my mic is crap too. This Sony C800G is not funny either. SERIOUSLY can I get some real suggestions. The mic and audio interface I chose are "crap" SOME1 point me towards the right direction for my audio interface and mic on a 250-300$$ budget with pro quality sound???

It works like this Home-ie, you pretty much get what you pay for. It isn't likely going to make that much difference what mic or interface you buy if you only have $300 so just pick something and get started. Cheap and professional don't belong in the same sentance.
