Im new here, but I have looked through many past post to learn more about audio engineering, thank you. So far I have learned from this site and other sources that within a room you want flat frequency response, that is naturally created by a combination of absorbtion, diffusion, and reflection. Here is my question, how do you test a room to determine where to apply special needs, I have an idea but to get the best flat frequency; How do you test the room, are their special meters I need to buy or rent? With that, is it best to test different areas of the room then to check or? Help is very very appreciated.
Thanks in advance |

One of the acoustic treatment sites (REAL Traps I believe) has a downlaodable file containing test tones in MP3. Burn a CD from it and you WILL BE AMAZED ! |

Agreed. The test tone CD on the RealTraps site is mainly for "audiophiles" and home theater people who don't have a computer connected to their audio system. If you do have a computer connected, the Room EQ Wizard Glenn linked to (or ETF or FuzzMeasure) is much better and gives much more information than simple test tones.
