I posted last week about my project. Im new to the forum so please bear with me.
Im ready to go ahead with my build.I really want to make sure I dont build it triple leaf .
Im thinking to build it 8x8 with a 8 foot ceiling within my existing 10x12x10 room. Its going to be more of a large iso box.I was thinking of building the walls with a stagered stud system with 2 layers of 3/4 drywall on each side. The existing walls will be about 1 1/2 feet from my new walls . Question. Is this goin to be triple leaf ?
As for the floor I am planing to use neoprene pucks under the joists.Insulate between them. 1 layer of 5/8 plywood 2 layers of drywall another layer of 5/8 plywood then new rubber flooring. The ceiling will be framed to the walls with 2 layers of drywall on each side.
The isulation in the walls and ceiling with be unfaced R-19. Im plaining to use the same in the floor.
The door will be a double doors made with drywall ,MDF ,insulation and 2x4s.
Please let me know if Im on the right track.
Any of you guys who can give me some tips would be great.
I have a situation where I am limited to what I can do here in the space..
Im on the second floor. The tenant below me leaves at 6pm everyday so I usually record my loud guitars at night.
I will only be using this room for guitar amps only thats why its more of an iso box
Some one suggested the I line my existing wall with insulation. Make an open back wall insulate it and use 3 layers of drywall with green glue inbetween each layer of drywall. I dont really know if that makes sense to me .
Ive read about this as much as I can I need to put this into action. |

whatever you do, do not build it 8x8x8... that will be about the worst possible set of dimensions possible (short of using 4'x4'x4' as it would be really cramped... )
why wouldn't you use the entire room? |

maybe build an iso-box for the speakers? probably a lot easier to manage rather than an entire room (or 3/4 of a room)... otherwise you could build a decent booth as you've described - do a search on tennis balls here - to "float" the inside floor.

Hey Gullfo,
That booth design looks awesome. Very close to what Ive been thinking about. I searched for the tennis balls to float the floor but nothing came up . Do you know of any links.
Thanks |
