I'm using the Sennheisers 650. I have some fairly high end gear. I live in a condo so I don't enjoy excellent monitoring conditions so I'm looking for the next best thing...an as accurate as possible headphone amp killer headphone amp to at least match the quality of my phones for recording and playback.
I read on another board where Bob Katz recommended "Oh my goodness! In your case I would HIGHLY recommend you get a high quality combined DAC/headphone amp like the Benchmark or the Grace. Do NOT just get a headphone amp. "
Anybody share his view or can recommend specific models under a grand? |

You really can't get much more accurate or killer of a headphone than the Grace.
And if you want killer and accurate, you spend what you have to spend what ever that comes to. And if your expecting accurate and killer headphone amp that includes the same quality level in the DAC, then you going to spend even more. |

Thanks for your input. I ended up settling on keeping my sennheiser 650's, bought a apogee rosetta 200 for conversion to my tascam DV-RA1000. I'll monitor with the headphones and on my genelec 8020a's using my Benchmark dac-1.
Is there any redundancy there or do I have it halfway right? |

I would have put the money to better use and not bothered with Rosetta 200. I would doubt that it would or will make any significant difference compared to the Tascam converters except to a very few people. |
