TC Helicon makes (a few?) hardware. Not sure who else does ...

For plug ins, you've got AutoTune, Melodyne and I think Waves has a pitch correction plug.

Google my friend. They all suck if used too much. You have a DAW, so why not sing it correctly? There is no tape noise, no degradation over time. Sing it until it is correct.

Waves and Melodyne are the easiest plugs to use IMO, because they have a great GUI. Melodyne has some issues affecting signal that does not need it unless you get creative.

I would absolutely recommend updating to Audition 2.0. You may find that it already has the proccessor/ effect included with the package. I know for a fact Audition has a pitch corrector.

DAW = Digital Audio Workstation (can be hardware or a PC/Software combination).
IMO = in my opinion.

Actual Processors (better for live):

Antares AVP
TC Helicon Voicelive (also has a rackmount version..voiceworks, or voicepro)

You can also use a VST plugin if you haev a fast computer and good convertors, and use it live still.

Antaras Autotune (best results in live situations imho)

I would recommend updating to Audition 2.0 as well. They have added a lot of nice features since the CE Pro version.

Adobe Audition does NOT have any features related to vocal auto tuning. It comes with a pitch shifter that enables you to increase or decrease pitch by cents or semitrons, which will not work for what you are trying to do.

Essentially, Adobe Audition is the exact same thing as Cool Edit. It has a couple extra features, and a lot of added stability. I will give them that.

However, I strongly recommend you save your money, and invest in either Logic Pro, or Pro Tools LE.

Entry level software like adobe audition just won't compare.

After looking through the default audition plugins, I realized it's almost all useless.

To start, it only comes with 24 plugins you can use in your effects rack. Some of which serve a redundant purpose.

You have your parametric EQ, which will throw many users off, as it ranges so extremely low and high for gain. However, if used correctly, this plugin is OK, but still limited to two types of bands. Shelves and regular band passes.

The dynamics proccessing in Audition is TERRIBLE! There are no compressors, gates, or expanders. Instead, there is one plugin called "Dynamics Processing", which doesn't even have a bridge/meter for gain reduction. It's very unconventional in a bad way.

The multiband compressor IS a decent plugin. It's your average multiband compressor. Nothing special, but not lacking nearly as much as the other effect options.

The hard limiter is also a decent plugin if used correctly, but it doesn't have dithering, or noise shaping, and again: No GR meter.

The reverbs all sound very fake and digital. As does the chorus plugin.

The other 18-20 plugins are really either completely unneccessary, or totally redundant.
