Looking for different orders of signal chain for vocals.
This is my order: KSM44 to Sebatron 2000e to Manely ELOP to tape.
I know I need to have a good clean signal and not send the signal to unnessessary box,s,but Im very curious about eq./ when to eq,I seem to think that eqing should be done after the track has been layed down for a little nip and tuck here and there,,,,,any ideas is more welcome. |

i sometimes use a little low cut for vocals. helps with the compressing as well.
then if i need it ( any lows) on the mix ,
i dial up some low mids and work it from there. |

Neve 3115 to a 1176 LN into a KEPEX1 to HD 24xr.
How about API 312 and 550 or maybe an Orban Para-Graphic EQ into LA 3 to HD 24xr. OK, so I left out the KEPEX1.
Op-Amp Labs 360BM microphone preamp to Op-Amp Labs 325 EQ into DBX165a to the HD 24xr.
I'll use high pass sometimes. Add some EQ so it sounds " right" to me before recording it. Not using EQ because you are afraid you can't undo it is only because you don't know what you're doing to begin with. It doesn't bother me because I'm a professional. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!
Will this make anything better or different for you?

Keep in mind that EQ will affect the sonic integrity of your audio. Not to mention, too much equalization can result in phase shifting |
