can any one tell my some info about the quality of the sennheiser MD 409 U3 and its uses, i have just acquired 2 and how dose it compare to the MD421 or the E609. |

Allrighty......You have acquired one of the finest microphones ever built. These are great on so many sources, but guitar cabinets is where they are particularly adept. I have used them with great results on all forms of percussion including kik drum, guitar cabs, bass cabs, vocals, as a low end mic on a piano(upright)......
As for a comparison to an MD421, they are different beasts. In quality they are both excellent yet have different uses.
As a comparison to the 609, the MD409 is the 609's daddy, and the 609 will always pale in comparison.
Hopefully you have found these in relatively excellent condition. Since they are probably 20 years old or more.........because of this, YMMV. |
