Hey guys,
Many times I install plugins with a choice of directx or vst and I'm not sure which is better.
I'm using Sonar 6 PE.
I have a feeling that the plugin is the same (effectwise), but vst's are easier on the system load.
Any guidance appreciated. |

The performance is the same. If there is any resource issues it has to do with that particular plugin. Cakewalk went with Microsoft directX warapper for Sonar. Steinberg used VST/I for Cubase. VST is the most popular format. Most audio programs now support both formats. At this point it really doesnt make a difference which way you go. There are several other formats that are supported under other audio programs ie: RTAS for Protools. |
