Here's a layout that I'm working on for the Altec 436a . This is the first layout that I've done with tubes - the few I've done previously has been pedals. There's plenty of cleanup left to do and ground planes to fill in. With that in mind (and before I put alot more time into it), I'm wondering if the tubes are too close together. I can spread it out to the right a bit and make the PS smaller if needed (it's made to be cut into two from a 16cm x 10cm board for those European fellas). The PS transformer will be a Gyraf style back to back. Some of the parts are done from specs in the Digikey catalog so I haven't ordered them quite yet so resizing a bit might be necessary. The transformers are sized from OEP's. This is my biggest concern as I'm not sure that those will work for this (see my resistor thread) but I want to make it economically and put up a DIY page for it.

    Thanks in advance,

Looks good - but maybe you'll need a bit more space between the output transformer and the closest tube. Some pcb-mount tube sockets are bigger than this..

I'm not sure either that you can use the OEP output transformer like that - at least you need to be very sure that there's the same DC current flowing in each primary. Otherwise you'll DC-saturate the core, and loose low-end quickly..

And you may need to wire it 2:1 (reversed) to get a decent output impedance..

looks good...maybe copperflood was an option (connect copperflood area close to the PSU connector to ground)

Respect to you, but I can`t understand why your making a PCB for the 436C (the PSU maybe).

The 436c uses so few parts & is so easy to point to point wire. To me P to P makes it easier to experiment & modify the circuit, which is something many people seem to want to do with this one.

Just a thought ! Each to their own I guess.
    regards Rob
