Is this a good setup for a small home studio, for recording vocals and guitar?
Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini
MXL 990 Condenser Microphone with Shockmount
Nady Pop Filter
M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors
I already have the computer. |

I think you'll do just fine starting out with that setup. . its pretty much what I'm working with right now and it's simple and fun to learn on.
Don't forget a mic stand! |

Absolutely change the mic. The consensus here is that a decent dynamic mike is much better than an inexpensive condenser. Also, my philosophy is start small, but with things you won't outgrow.
Get an SM57 instead of the cheap condensers. It is a classic that will always be usable, no matter how manny additional mics you get. You don't need the pop fillter with this mic. Get a foam cover for about $1.50. |
