Well it would have been nice to see it before it was removed/ sold, LOL but there is an other one, I think, just like it. It would be nice to see the motherboard. That has a lot to do with how happy you will be in the future, (upgrades, internal noise)
other then that it looks like a good start. |

Thanks for the reply bwmac. I know the auction ended, I was just using it as an example. There are several in the same price range. It's all I can afford right now for a PC without buying an of the shelf model(which I know is a bad idea). Like I said in my previous post, I am not a real power user, no more than 2-4 tracks at a time and projects most likely won't be more than a dozen tracks or so.
Thanks
Mike |

you have to buy a MB for either Intel or AMD
mine is for AMD and its 64 bit and its quiet
Put it in an old box or something to keep the cat off of it.
new processors came down in price because of the rush over the quad cores. you dont need it for recording. soooo a core dual x 64 is cheep now
mine is a
AMD athlon 64 x2 6000+ (ADX6000CZBOX) 3.0ghz dual core w/1mb x 2 cache 90nm 125w (windsor) 64-bit socket am2 retail boxed w/cooling fan (3 years warranty)
find it here, I paid 240 3 months ago

Ram is Expencive at just under $100 per 1 gig sticks oh wait, I found a good price on kingston ram. nothing but the best (IMO)

so far we are under what you would have paid, you need a power supply (500-700 watt) from the old pc that you are going to grab from a pc junk pile and you are going to hav a super kick ass machine
good luck
