Hi. I'm looking for another darker mic that has a less harsh top end to my other mics for recording vocals:-
Rode NT1a
Studio Projects B1
MXL V67g
T.Bone RM700(ribbon)
What would you recommend within this budget? |

The Kel HM-1 works well on some thin-sounding vocalists. Its exaggerated proximity response compliments its dark (if boxy/stuffy in the low-midrange) sound. |

I hope you've at least tried an SM58. It has its limitations, but a harsh top end isn't one of them. And if you have a 57 around that you are using as a snare mic and not thinking of as a vocal mic, you should definitely give it a try. |

AT3035, very flat across the high end, darker than many moderately priced condensers, which all seem to hype upper mids. Low self noise specs also. |
