This is a band that came in to my studio last summer and brought a producer with them (usually I work alone with just local bands doing cheap demos)
He wanted to try some stuff I had never done before, so I wanted to see if you guys thought it was successful or not.
The out of ordinary stuff to look for is...

1. he wanted to mic the toms from underneath, I gave in even though I have never heard of this being done (except back in the 80's when everyone took off the bottom heads and stuck the mic way up inside)

2. He wanted to do a stereo mic on the acoustic using 2 C1000s's in an XY config. normally I would use a 4033 for acoustic, mixed with a little direct signal if it was any good.

They actually took the tracks back to the producers studio to mix and do all of the cutting and pasting, but this is my attempt at mixing it.

I don't have much experience with drums, but to me they sound kinda flat and "slappy" sounding. Not that they sound bad, really, but slappy if that makes any sense.

I like the stereo signal for the acoustic guitar. It creates a nice image.

Thanks discreet, I agree about the drums, kind of slappy.
I kind of like the sound, but its not the kind of drum sound you normally hear. It is a fairly accurate representation of what the drums sounded like live.

BTW I only posted 2 mins of the song so it would be quick and easy for people to check it our and comment.

thanks
