Yes or no?
I'm getting a good solid, punchy-with-click kick drum sound, but what I'm really after is that pillowy sound that's currently popular. It almost seems i'm hearing a trace of the reverb tail prior to the click. Is this a dedicated reverb setting on the bass drum channel, or some kind of reverse gating? |

taht could be a second bassdrum mic on the outside head or a room microphone. i sometimes add a reverb bus for the drums and just stick it way low if i dont wind up using a room mic
try it, experiment |

I agree with the second mic. And compressing the second mic to taste. The release is going to be your 'pillow'. Hard and quick is not so soft while slow and long gets the fluffy.
Be sure and remove any pets before turning up the pillow. |
