I'm having a problem with importing .aaf files which were made in
and exported from the pc version of Avid. I've tried importing them
into Nuendo and Vegas video, which both support .aaf files, but with
no luck. The same files will re-import into Avid. Any suggestions? |

Your best option is SSL Pro Convert (formerly EDL Convert): http://www.solidstatelogic.com/music/Pro-Convert/index.asp
Not an inexpensive solution but it's a lifesaver for just these situations. You can import the AAF there and convert either to another AAF (which would likely be more standard than Avid's "interpretation", or go to OMF, EDL - whatever works best).
What version of Nuendo are you using? |

Hi Dterry, thanks, that sounds like a good idea.
I'm using Nuendo 3.
From looking at sequencer forums, I get the impression that there all imaginable types of problems with .aaf files, when going from one platform to another, even with more recent software versions. I'm considering using the less sophisticated method of using wav files instead of aaf files and sacrificing the benefits of being able to extend the files at edit points. It may not be worth the trouble. |

AAF has been hit or miss. I would go with OMF since you should retain edit handles. It should be fine, but there again, "standards" are only standards for the few apps that actually abide by them - Avid and Digi have a habit of making their own "standards" - even OMF has had it's issues. |

Again, another Pinnacle marketing hit.
jackson_us5, you've caused a second thread lockdown.
