Cool sound.
Vocals remind me of Robert Smith.
I like. |

Good content, but the drum mix needs some TLC ...
The snare is lacking both space around it and a satisfying crack ... and the kick needs to push a little harder (it's too far back). The toms could use a bit of traction too, as the whole kit seems to be a bit under a muffling blanket.
The OH mics might be a little too forward too, as suddenly cymbals will jump to life and be RIGHT THERE while the rest of the drums play on at the back of the room.
I'd route to a sub mix, and compress a bit to pull the whole kit into the same dynamic range. I wouldn't stomp too hard, as it wouldn't be appropriate for this genre ... but evening out the levels would improve the sound.
That's where I'd start ...
The rest sounds pretty good, particularly the vocals ... which are excellent.
Did you post somewhere else about about somebody in a video wearing the same t-shirt as you?

Thanks both.
Yeah, that's Michael Buble's video with the dude wearing the TGGP T-shirt.
Small world... |

I could be totally missing the point but I like the version of chapter one without rob on drums. The ride/snare is driving. Urge to rock out larger.
Needs some kick/bass though. |

Yeah, I'm kinda impartial to both versions.
I like the urgency of Xtian on drums, but I like the fills on Rob's version.
I don't know when we'll get around to throwing down the bass...
Maybe this weekend, then once that's done I'll make (hopefully) a mix that sounds more polished.
I totally agree with the Robert S. vox, I always have. In fact, in magazines and "reviews" I used to tout the old band as a mix between The Cure and The Misfits...
Kev, here's that other post about the shirt:

That's right ...
Shows you what a good name will do for you. I remembered the other post because I associated it w/ TGGP.
It was the name of the group that sparked the rememberance ... the sign of a memorable name.

...Too bad it never really got them anywhere..
Outside of a Buble video, that is...
At any rate, my association with them landed me many gigs...
That's a plus I suppose. |
