Help needed on what to buy

If I am on the wrong site I do apologies but here goes.

I am looking for a simple piece of software (or digital piano with the software built in) which will allow me to create music in a very simplistic way.

Is there anything out there that would?

* Allow me to play, for example, 5 notes into the computer or piano, play them back, then remove/replace ONLY those notes I choose, one at a time.

I have no knowledge of reading or writing music, neither do I know much when I come to using the large music software products, so this has to be idiot proof.

I wish to create a basic rhythm or harmony little by little.

The notes will be from within my head and I would be tapping away at the computer kbd or piano trying to build up a very basic tune.

Hope you all understand and I hope there is something out there.

Sounds like you want something MIDI, like a MIDI keyboard. Also, I used to use fruityloops to piece together things, it has a really handy sequencer with virtual keyboard.
