Hey everyone,

I'm mostly a sort of bedroom studio for learning but have come accross a song which I thought would be nice for me to try and replicate for a mix.

But the rythm guitar sounds like its in the distance to the lead and drums (purposely of course).
So to copy the sound i tried putting the mic further away from the amp and it doesn't quite follow the same changes in sound as what I am hearing on the guy's mix.

The mix isn't using reverb as thats mostly on the drums. But the guitar rythm isn't "in your face", nor is it so distant that it looses any clarity. When i moved the microphone further from the amp to get the distance effect it became muddy and lost its clarity and started to pick up the sound of the room which didn't sound very professional at all. I have a shure sm57 for my mic.

Some one told me it could be recorded with room mics rather than mics right up against the amp to create the sound. How ever I don't really have that kinda mic and im short on money lol And the size of my bedroom is not all that big either.
The song i am referring to (no idea why its related to final fantasy):
http://youtube.com/watch?v=R1AVkK1kMAc

Its hard to notice it on youtube cos of their rubbish quality but im sure you can hear what I mean specially when compared to the lead. It's more than just volume differences for sure. The guitar rythm (the heavy stuff) is mostly what I am referring to.

Can such a sound be simulated in a small bedroom sized room at all i was thinking maybe a VST or maybe some one knows a clever trick to do it ??

Hope you can help Smile

Sounds like 200ms to 600ms reverb to me, and EQ off the hi-mids and above to make room for the lead. And as you mentioned, the level is much lower. The snare is really compressed, and has a short reverb as you mentioned.

I'm probably off, but that's what I hear. Just my two cents.

Hahahaha! Wouldn't that be sweet?? Unfortunately, I think this was an April Fools joke... I should know, I fell for it when it was released. Smile They should really take that down.

They should leave it there.
Personally I love "EQ Sync".
